Hi everybody! I am Ruby (Chinese Name: Wang Hsuan Yu) and I grew up in Taiwan.
I always loved visiting other countries. During my travels, I noticed that languages are an essential part of life and culture. I became more and more enthusiastic about learning new languages. Besides Mandarin Chinese, I speak Hokkien (a traditional language in Taiwan), English (C1), and some basic German (A2).
Over the years, I developed a strong desire to help other people learn languages quickly and efficiently. That is why I became a language teacher. In order to help even more students, I created OrangešChinese.
I completed by Bachelor's degree at Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. During my studies, I did a semester abroad at Presbyterian College in South Carolina, United States. After my graduation in 2019, I decided to become a language teacher.
First, I worked in a language school in Taiwan as an English teacher for 1 year. After that, I focused on teaching Chinese. I completed several courses to become a professional Chinese teacher. I started working as a remote Chinese teacher for different languages schools in London and in Los Angeles. I now have over 2 years of experience as an online Chinese teacher. In these two years, I held over 2000 online classes - both private classes and group classes.
My teaching style is very open and free. I don't believe in test-oriented learning environments and teaching styles. Instead, I make the classes interesting and fun for my students. Also, I think it is important to focus on real life examples to make the learning experience effective and efficient. My Certifications as a Chinese Teacher
TCSOL
TCSOL refers to the teaching of Chinese to non-Chinese speakers all over the world, known as āTeaching Chinese to speakers of other languagesā. I completed this course in October 2022.
TQUK
I passed this course by the Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) in August 2022. TQUK are a UK-based awarding body. The qualifications offered by TQUK are recognized by the UK government.
Han Institute
International Han Institute promotes Chinese language and culture with the focus on training qualified teachers to meet the growing demand for Chinese language instruction. I passed this course in August 2022.
Nihao Chinese
I completed this Chinese online teacher certification in May 2022.
